Amanda Burkhoff's love for apartment hunting began while attending Barnard College when she rented her first apartment on 115th Street and Broadway. She has moved several times over the years, currently residing on the West Side with her husband; plus she has helped her daughters as well as other family and friends find apartments in Manhattan.
After retiring as a scientist, Amanda decided to pursue this passion and talent for real estate as a second rewarding career. Her experience in the field of science has been instrumental in her development as an interested and thoughtful person with excellent listening and problem-solving skills. Amanda was trained to be analytical, critical and organized, relentless in resolving problems and conflicts, and diligent in following through on every task. She will always be honest and accurate when it comes to your real estate search, and will make the process enjoyable with her open, friendly, and easy to talk to demeanor.
Originally from New Jersey, Amanda holds a BA in Chemistry from Barnard College, Columbia University in NYC and a PHD in Molecular Biology from The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. She worked as a research scientist in academia and industry, and taught undergraduates at Barnard as a laboratory instructor. Amanda also worked for Bell Labs and at California Institute of Technology. Her most recent work was as a Clinical Research Manager of a large multi-center medical trial for an Israeli company.
For fun, Amanda likes biking, seeing movies at the Paris and Angelika Theaters, shopping, taking long walks and trying new restaurants. She is also an avid reader of great literature, and a member of a small book club run by a New York University Professor. Spending time with her family is always most precious.
