The Closer's real estate gossip: Jonathan Adler meets Barbie, Larry Silverstein's towers booming
Friday, October 2nd 2009
If anyone questions the viability of the current luxury rental climate, they might want to take a look at Silver Towers, the mammoth 60-story, two-tower rental development on 11th Ave. and 42nd St. Since May, when Your Home covered the opening of the sales office at the 1,042-unit project, the Citi Habitats Marketing Group leasing team (led by broker Clifford Finn) has rented more than 300 of the 935 available units. They’re seeing a whopping 150 people per week visiting the buildings as potential renters. The latest amenity: a graphite-gray Mercedes sedan and SUV, available for tenants to rent by the hour. Studios at the Larry Silverstein development start at around $2,300, with one-bedrooms starting at $3,100. The 200 affordable units in the project have already been rented. The buildings have a circular carport, newsstand, outdoor playground, sundeck and 75-foot indoor pool.
